Jong S. Whang
Founder
Jong S. Whang is the founder and a Director of Amtech and has held various roles including President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman since its inception in 1981. Mr. Whang’s responsibilities include merger and acquisition activity on behalf of the Company. He has over 40 years of experience in the semiconductor industry, including time spent in both processing and manufacturing of equipment systems. From 1973 until 1979, he was employed by Siltronics, Inc., initially as a technician working with chemical vapor deposition (SiC), and later as manager of the quartz fabrication plant with responsibility of providing technical marketing support. From 1979 until 1981, he was employed by U.S. Quartz, Inc. as manufacturing manager. In 1981, he left U.S. Quartz to form the Company.
Michael Whang
Chief Executive Officer & Director
Michael Whang was promoted to Chief Executive Officer on January 28, 2020 and appointed to the Board on May 5, 2020. Mr. Whang joined the Company in April 2004 as Director of Information Technology and Risk Management. In May 2016, Mr. Whang was promoted to Chief Risk Officer and Chief Information Officer. He was promoted to Vice President of Operations on January 4, 2018 and to Vice President and Chief Operating Officer on March 6, 2019. His responsibilities at Amtech included roles in corporate strategy and operations, compliance, and M&A due diligence and post-acquisition activity, culminating in operational oversight of the USA Operations. Prior to joining Amtech, Michael Whang served in various information technology management roles at several technology companies.
Lisa Gibbs
Chief Financial Officer & Director
Lisa D. Gibbs joined Amtech in September 2016 as Corporate Controller and was promoted to Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer on January 4, 2018. Ms. Gibbs was promoted to Vice President and Chief Financial Officer on March 6, 2019 and appointed to the Board of Directors on May 5, 2020. Prior to joining Amtech, Ms. Gibbs was a partner in a private consulting firm where she assisted clients with a variety of accounting and finance needs. From 2002 to 2014, Ms. Gibbs was the Vice President of Internal Audit for Insight Enterprises, Inc., a Fortune 500 publicly-traded information technology company. Ms. Gibbs began her career in public accounting with Arthur Andersen LLP. She is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Arizona.
Paul Lancaster
Vice President, Sales and Customer Service
Paul Lancaster joined Amtech in August 2020 as the Vice President of Sales and Customer Service. His responsibilities include the sales and service strategies for all Amtech divisions globally, coordination of marketing activities across divisions, assisting with M&A prospecting and due diligence, and strategic guidance for key account growth. Paul comes from BTU International, a division of Amtech, where he was the Director of Sales for the Americas. At BTU, Paul led business development efforts across several industries including semiconductor, electronics assembly, solar and high temperature processing applications. Mr. Lancaster began his career in the electronics manufacturing industry as an engineer for a leading automated optical inspection company. Mr. Lancaster has over 20 years of experience in the electronics and semiconductor industries.
Louis M Golato
Vice President of Operations
Mr. Golato has over thirty years’ experience in manufacturing and operations in the fields of alternative energy and semiconductor manufacturing. Prior to joining Amtech Group, Mr. Golato was Vice President of Manufacturing and Operations at VionX Energy where he oversaw manufacturing, supply chain management and field installation for long duration grid batteries. Prior to this, Mr. Golato was Vice President of Manufacturing at Stion Corporation and Vice President of Manufacturing at A123 Systems where he was responsible for the launching of multiple lithium-ion battery plants across the globe. Louis began his career in semiconductors working for companies like Texas Instruments and Digital Equipment Corporation in the microelectronics division manufacturing Alpha chips.
