We are currently looking to hire a Quality Manager at BTU International. BTU International, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Amtech Group (Nasdaq: ASYS), is a global supplier and technology leader of advanced thermal processing equipment solutions in the electronics manufacturing market. BTU’s high-performance convection reflow ovens are used in the production of SMT printed circuit board assemblies and in semiconductor packaging processes. BTU also specializes in precision controlled, high-temperature belt furnaces for a wide range of custom applications, such as brazing, direct bond copper, diffusion furnace, aluminum sintering and advanced solar cell processing.

Summary Objectives:

The Quality Manager main focal point is managing the organization’s Quality Management System (QMS). The Manager will take on the lead role in the qualification, performancemonitoring, and quality technology deployment in the supply chain and production environment, including involvement in design reviews and engineering releases as appropriate. The Manager establishes, compiles, produces, and analyzes quality reports to discern quality levels and implement corrective action as appropriate required by the quality management system. In addition, the Manager Participates and/or facilitates project teams, maintain and drive changes to the quality management system. The Manager represents the organization as the ISO representative and guides senior leadership with respect to strategic/tactical quality management system changes and develop quality standards and requirements for suppliers in conjunction with the purchasing, engineering, production, and manufacturing engineering departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the organizational Quality Management System (QMS), (ISO 9001 based).
  • Qualify suppliers through on-site surveys and other research means and perform periodic supplier audits.
  • Facilitate the supplier rating system, communicate quality levels, and target improvement. activities.
  • Management Review Board representative for Quality. This includes subsequent Investigations, and initiating corrective actions.
  • Lead role in determining first article inspections and driving associated follow-up activities.
  • Interface with the shop floor personnel and others regarding issues associated with supplied product.
  • Establish/facilitate inspection and measurement systems including procedure development, specification interpretation, statistical sampling, and statistical quality as applicable, both within BTU and with the supplier/vendor.
  • Guide senior leadership through changes that affect the quality management system.
  • Strictly adhere to all BTU safety policies.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Understanding of ISO9001 and other industry standards associated with quality program
  • requirements.
  • Experience with working with internal audits and ISO lead auditors.
  • Interpersonal and technical skills to lead suppliers toward achievement of Quality products.

  • Familiar with SQC, SPC, FMEA, DOE, process flow charting, risk analysis, and other related Quality technologies.

  • Understanding of electronic, software, and mechanical technology.
  • Proficient on PC desktop applications, MS Office, Visio, Minitab or similar SPC software.
  • Experience in leading improvement teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Quality/Research/Manufacturing Engineer.
  • Knowledge of metal fabrication methods, HMI systems, mechanical drive systems, and mechanical/electrical control systems
  • Strong working knowledge of the ISO 9001 system and or related systems.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems, Microsoft D365 preferred.
  • Formal training in blueprint reading and/or drawing standards.

As a purchasing Manager, you will oversee managing the process of sourcing and purchasing goods and services for the company. This includes researching suppliers and comparing costs, negotiating purchase agreements, and developing inventory controls to identify demand for goods and services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and oversee the work of buyers and purchasing agents.
  • Develop organization procurement rules and regulations.
  • Establish guidelines on how often the company gets price quotes for items, the number of bids to accept, and which vendors to consider.
  • Purchase goods and services for the company.
  • Evaluate quality, price, reliability, technical support, and availability of goods and services.
  • Negotiate, secure and follow-up on supplier commitments to ensure timely delivery of quality materials.
  • Provide and maintain accurate and status reports routinely, or independently, as the need arises.
  • Prioritize and follow-up on material shortages to ensure timely delivery, eliminate production slowdowns or work stoppages.
  • Trouble-shoot discrepancies pertaining to purchase orders, requisitions, supplier deliveries, prices, invoices, request for supplier quotes, quality assurance documents, contracts, and other purchasing actions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or technical field
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Proficient with use of Internet search engines and accessing supplier websites.
  • Able to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of basic production and inventory control theories and practices
  • Strong aptitude to solve problems and improve process.
  • Strong ability to negotiate and resolve conflict.
  • Familiar with general accounting practices
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a purchasing Machine/Equipment environment
  • Professional Certification in Supply Chain Management is highly desirable.
  • ERP experience using Oracle/SAP/Epicor or other ERP software is a must.
  • Purchasing experience in machine tool manufacturing (robots, automated equipment, or industrial equipment) a must.
